Blackberry Lemon Drop

Thursdays and Fridays are often travel days for us. They are filled with breaking down camp at one location, long drives, and setting up at the next location. We share the responsibilities so at the end of the day we want a nice relaxing sip to make it all worth while. In Oregon and Washington at this time of year you can pick your own blackberries almost anywhere. They line the roads, fill the campground green spaces, and it only took about 3 weeks to convince Kelly I actually knew they were REAL blackberries and I wasn’t trying to poison her! 😂

For the end of your week enjoy this great take on a classic lemon drop. It’s great in a martini glass, but on the road we have tight space so an old fashioned glass will do.

Recipe for 1:

2 oz Vodka
1 oz Orange Liqueur
3-4 Blackberries
1/2 Lemon
2 Basil leaves
Agave Syrup or Simple Syrup
Powdered Sugar

In cocktail shaker add 1 oz vodka, blackberries, juice of half a lemon, and torn basil leaves. Muddle until combined. Add the second ounce of vodka, once of orange liqueur, syrup to taste (I like mine on the tarter side). Add ice to the shaker and shake until chilled. Use slice of lemon to wet the rim of your glass and rim with powdered sugar. Pour chilled cocktail into glass and garnish with a berry and twist of lemon or lemon slice. Cheers!
